O Grupo E Coisa E Tal (1971)

Copacabana CLP 11640

O Grupo for the first time on Parallel Realities.

The group consist of:

Quartin: Órgão, Piano, Vocal
Renato: Baixo, Vocal
Roberto: Bateria, Vocal
Márcio: Saxofone, Flauta, Clarinete
Carlinhos: Guitarra, Vocal
Jaime e Maurício: Ritmo, Vocal

Arranjos Instrumentais: Alberto Arantes

Coordenador de produção: Moacyr Silva

O Grupo (in this formation at least) has only this one album and one compacto in their discography but there were three other groups in Brazil with the same name, out of which one O Grupo with their only album released in 1968 for Odeon could, maybe be the initial O Grupo, consisting of 4 musicians) which got transformed and became another O Grupo with a different cast. The fact that leads to that conclusion is that a Jaime and a Maurício can be found in both O Grupos (rhythm and vocal).
Plus, the sond of both O Grupos is similar.

You may read more about O Grupo and their music on both covers of this LP inside a text about them, written by Sergio Bittencourt.

The remaining two O Grupos I will not mention further as the confusion is confusing enough as it is.

Mancini e Os Dez de Ouro – Baile Jovem (1967)

Mocambo LP 40369

Sax baritono and Vibrafone player Zezinho Mancini has his premiere on Parallel Realities together with his Golden Ten.

Luckily he is presented on his recording with his full name, as otherwise the already existing confusion about which Zezinho is which Zezinho would be unbearable.

Anyway, the sounds on this album are quite in accordance with the front cover: Pure para dançar at it’s best, mostly consisting of international hits of the period.

Luckily, also the back cover offers a nice text about this Zezinho and his music, written by Julietta Jorge Saade.

Here is the list of the golden eleven:

Zezinho Mancini (Sax baritono, Vibrafone)
Wanderley Mancini (Guitarra, Crooner)
Antônio Bonutti (Órgão)
Altair (Trombone)
Artur (Sax tenor)
Zezito (Piston)
Agostinho (Contrabaixo)
Tiquinho (Bateria, Crooner)
Do Menor (Crooner)
Hércules e Jaime (Ritmo)

Presenting eleven hits:

01. Sunny (Bobby Hebb)
02. Noites de Moscou (Vassily Solovyov-Sedoy)
03. Ciao Amore Ciao (Luigi Tenco)
04. The Shadow Of Your Smile (Johnny Mandel / Paul Francis Webster)
05. The More I See You (Harry Warren / Mack Gordon)
06. Na Ginga do Samba (Carioca)
07. Music To Watch Girls By (Sid Ramin)
08. Coração de Papel (Sérgio Reis)
09. Black Is Black (Tony Hayes / Steve Wadey / Michelle Grainger)
10. Tiro no Escuro (Henry Mancini)
11. Amor Demais (Agostinho de Mello)
