Tony Vestane – Romance e Balanco (1963)

EP Musidisc LPM 12014

Looks like Toni Vestane (or Tony Vestane, as his name is written on the cover) has more up his sleeve than expected:

Like this unlisted EP, just received from Edson Mendes, containing, besides the standard four tracks, also a bonus one, included by Edsom from Ribamar & Zitto Righi‘s 1962 LP by Musidisc.

That album by Ribamar and Zito is an all time favorite at my place, but I never checked who exactly is singing on Ai de mim

On this EP there is no dilemma who is singing these compositions:

01. Depois do carnaval (Paulo Silvino / Wilson Tirapelli)
02. Deixa a nega gingar (Luiz Claudio)
03. Toma lá, dá cá (Toni Vestane)
04. Nós e o mar (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)

05. Ai de mim (bonus track) (Capiba)

UNEXPECTED APPEARANCE OF THE EP

Créditos: Edson Mendes

JUST FOR THE RECORDS by Brazilliance:
This recording of “Toma Lá Dá Cá” was first issued in 1961 as track # 10 on Zito Righi‘s album “O Sax de Ouro” which also featured guest vocals by Francineth, Silvio Cézar and Pedrinho Rodrigues.

It’s a pity that Toni Vestane engaged himself more in producing other artists music than making a few more records of his own.

Ribamar – Quinteto Romantico – Bastante Intimo

Spot

This album by Ribamar, originally found on Loronix has at least three other editions of which two were already posted on Parallel Realities:

Nosso Encontro de Amor (Equipe EQC 853)
Duas Faces de Amor (Equipe EQ 804)
…Depois do Motel (Padrão 888.122)

There is one difference between Bastante Intimo and the other three: Ribamar and his conjunto are hidden behind the fictious Quinteto Romantico and it is released as MONO by Spot under a serial number and release date unknown to me.

You may ask yourself why I am posting another version of the same album and as expected I do not have a logical answer.

Maybe, just because it is there…

Anyway, the compositions are:

01. A Noite do Meu Bem (Dolores Duran)
02. Segredo (Herivelto Martins / Marino Pinto)
      Nunca (Lupicínio Rodrigues)
03. Duas Contas (Garoto)
      Dó-Ré-Mi (Fernando César)
04. Alguém Como Tu (José Maria de Abreu / Jair Amorim)
Não Tem Solução (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle)
05. Cansei de Ilusões (Tito Madi)
Molambo (Jaime Florence “Meira” / Augusto Mesquita)
06. Canção de Amor (Chocolate / Elano de Paula)
Canção da Volta (Ismael Netto / Antônio Maria)
07. Não Tenho Você (Paulo Marques / Ari Monteiro)
      Se Você Se Importasse (Peterpan)
08. Folha Morta (Ary Barroso)
      Prece (Vadico / Marino Pinto)
09. Ninguém Me Ama (Fernando Lobo / Antônio Maria)
Se Eu Morresse Amanhã (Antônio Maria)
10. Foi A Noite (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)

Ribamar – Carinho e Amor – 10′ (1960)

Parallel Realities Studio 2015

Around five years ago, in another reality, I posted the album: Tito Madi & Ribamar – Carinho e Amor received from Edson Mendes.

Some time later, somebody somewhere decided to reissue music by Tito Madi and started deleting albums with the, at that time, newly copyrighted tracks. As those who have been trying lately to download this LP noticed, instead of the download link under the above mentioned album, the absurd DOWNLOAD YESTERDAY advice has appeared.

As without the masterpieces by Ribamar on the deleted album, I have the unmistakeable feeling that his discography here is incomplete, so I started a trip through all those countless realities existing parallel to the one considered as the only one and finally found one of them where the six tracks performed by Ribamar were released on a separate career 10′ LP, also dated 1960.

Note that in both realities the arrangements are by  Tito Madi, Lyrio Panicalli, Ribamar and Severino Filho. By coincidence the backing vocals are also by the Severino Filho Choral, including Os Cariocas:

In short: Another Parallel Realities Studio release containing:

Lado A:

01. Teu céu, minhas estrelas (Tito Madi)
02. Olhe-me, diga-me (Tito Madi)
03. Senhorita (Tito Madi)

Lado B:

04. Rio triste (Tito Madi)
05. Chove lá fora (Tito Madi)
06. Quero-te assim (Tito Madi)

ADVICE: Don’t wait until tomorrow to download this gem, as tomorrow you may find the absurd DOWNLOAD YESTERDAY text instead of the link.

Joe Hammond“… Not Brazilian sounding name… Nickname of Hammond player? Joe = Joseph =Jose= Ze!!! May be Ze Maria (that time on Continental label)?

Next step – one and only LP of Joe Hammond was released 1962 on Philips with 4 tunes, compossed by… Ze Maria!!! So, IMHO, Ze Maria is Joe Hammond.

BREAKING NEWS FROM MOSCOW by Bossanov:

As a Russian I feel it necessary to comment on “Noites de Moscou“, one of the most popular song from my country in the world. For some strange reasons all brazilian versions of it except one (see Instituto Memoria Musical Brasileira) credit it to great composer of Soviet Russia Isaac Dunayevsky, but in reality (not parallel) it is the song of another great composer of that period – Vassily Solovyov-Sedoy!!!

Ribamar – …Depois do Motel

Padrão 888.122

Thanks to Zecalouro first of all, for opening my ears to the heavenly sounds of Ribamar‘s piano (and accordion). When I heard Ribamar for the first time I was fascinated. So were, by the way, my friends who heard his music at my place in Belgrade.
Needless to say that I started a frenetic search for more of him which resulted in two more career albums found on P2P as well as his collaborations with Waleska, Helena de Lima, Tito Madi etc…
The remaining four career albums which I could not find anywhere I noted on my Santa Claus list and although they seemed completely forgotten and lost, they were brought to light one by one thanks to dear friends Edson Mendes and Pedro.
But one album, found listed on Mercadolivre, remained a mystery up to now: …Depois do Motel, for which I was not sure if it was by THE Ribamar (Ribamars are almost as frequent as Zezinhos) as no information, except for the front cover was displayed.
I searched the net for the title, but no result at all was obtained.

Just in case, I added it to my Santa Claus list.

Opening the package received today from Pedro & 300discos
resolved the mystery of …Depois do Motel.

…Depois do Motel is the fourth edition of Ribamar‘s Duas Faces do Amor, released by Equipe (EQ 804).
Equipe released the same music as Nosso Encontro de Amor in 1969 (Equipe EQC 853).
There is also another (mono) release by Spot recorded by the fictious Quinteto Romantico called Bastante Intimo.

Why four different releases, names and covers of the same music?

I do not know, but I can only guess:
Because it is one of the best instrumental albums ever recorded in Brazil…

All other career LPs by Ribamar (except for one) and some collaborations you may find HERE.

This gem you may enjoy now by downloading these tracks (with cover scans):

01. A Noite do Meu Bem (Dolores Duran)

MEHR LICHT by Brazilliance:

Actually, Padrão was a subsidiary of Equipe, releasing some records in the seventies including this one in 1976. So, this reissue was published practically “in-house”.

To my knowledge, Spot was subsidiary of Copacabana, which has no link to either Padrão or Equipe. According to the general sources, Ribamar was not connected to Copacabana which makes it quite strange why Spot reissued his album as Bastante Intimo by Quinteto Romantico.

Unfortunately, Equipe’s catalogue numbers don’t seem to be released chronologically, but the original album Duas Faces do Amor was presumably issued in 1963 or 1964, the Spot reissue circa 1965/66, and, as you mentioned, Equipe’s own reissue Nosso Encontro de Amor in 1969. So, Depois do Motel is the fourth issue—but is it the final one?

Another mystery which is yet unveiled: none of the four covers credit the fine musicians that accompanied Ribamar on guitar, organ, drums and the occasional vibraphone…
